Doing the master phone reset is something that a phone owner would normally do, especially if they plan to sell their phone and making sure that their personal data will be no longer on the phone.

Many think that after doing a factory reset everything, including the personal data or even business data of the phone owner will be cleared, but there's a report that tells the factory reset do not clear or remove personal data.

A report by Blancco, a certified data erasure and computer reuse solution displays that the data remains on the specific device and can be still recover using recovery tools.

Managing Director of Blancco, Kim Väisänen said:
“For Blancco, these investigations are not surprising, as we realize that only software like our Blancco Mobile, which works at the device’s operating system level to overwrite all data, can fully delete information,”

    He also added:
“Consumers and businesses alike should make sure that a complete overwrite is performed with proven software, meaning they should research what processes their phone carriers or buy back and return programs are using.”

“The lesson here is that mobile device users need to confirm that their phone carrier, mobile network operator or point-of-sale provider uses advanced overwriting software, which actually provides a detailed, auditable report to prove erasure and provide peace of mind,”
